Reasons To Do A First Look

We’ve come across many couples asking, “Do I need to do a first look?” The reasons might vary, but here are our favorite reasons on why you should.

1. Candid Photos of First Seeing Each Other

It’s such a special moment between a bride and groom to see each other first before doing anything else on wedding day, and before guests see them too! It’s even better if you get to capture them on photo, video or both.

2. Sharing a Special, Intimate Moment Together

The mornings of weddings can be a little hectic with getting ready, hair and makeup, making sure you have everything in order before the ceremony - that sometimes you just need a breather. The First Look is a perfect moment to catch that breather with your spouse-to-be and just enjoy being in the moment together before heading off to be wed.

3. More Couple Portraits

The First Look is a perfect opportunity to catch all the uninterrupted couple portraits your heart desires. If you make this a priority and tell your planner, they will work with your media team to make sure you have more than enough time to get a ton of great shots. A bonus is - if you select a location with a few different spots for photos, you’ll have a variety of different looks in your wedding day album. Which also means more prints to add to your home!

4. More Time for Other Activities Later

When you do a First Look, this automatically opens up time later in the day for other activities to consider post-ceremony. You can do family or group photos with guests. Perhaps a sunset/golden hour shoot together. You can even join cocktail hour! Or, if the two of you want to get away and enjoy a moment between the two of you (with drinks and apps in hand!), we can also schedule this.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to portraits. And if photos are your jam, then you definitely need to consider doing a First Look to take advantage of the time with your photo and video team. Contact us today
