Boho-Chic Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Wedding | Christine & Luis
In the desert, specifically in Indian Wells, September marks the start of the wedding season. Christine & Luis’ wedding day was the best way for us to kick this off!
After a brief search with the couple in the Los Angeles area, they decided a destination wedding was the route they wanted to take. So their search took them to Indian Wells, where they landed on the spacious and beautiful grounds of the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells. We had the pleasure of working with the wonderful Wenddy and her team, and they made it incredibly easy for the couple to plan their big day and for our wedding planning team to execute said plans!
With a sprawling 45 acres to the couple’s disposal, the (desert) sky was truly the limit! It was the perfect place to invite a small group of their family and friends who could choose to spend just the day with them, or make it a mini-getaway and spend the weekend at the resort with plenty of amenities at their fingertips.
On the day of the wedding, the couple stayed separate during the getting ready portion of the morning. Luis and his groomsmen enjoyed a short round of golf while Christine and her bridesmaids saddled up for glam and snacks in a boardroom on the property. We then made sure to schedule in separate getting ready portraits before having them meet for their First Look.
We decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by having the couple take their First Look portraits at their ceremony site. As a planner, I often make this recommendation when it makes sense for the couple and with their venue. This way, they can have intimate photos of themselves in the site already done up and without guests, and during cocktail hour they can mingle and join their guests.
I loved that we were able to get photos with their beautifully done wedding arch, and that the wedding party was able to join in too! The bright dresses were the perfect pop of color for the desert-themed celebration.
With portraits out of the way, now it was time to go back to the Boardroom to rest until the start of the Ceremony.
The Grove Wedding Ceremony at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells
As guests arrived, they were welcomed by a beautifully set up wedding ceremony on a neatly manicured green lawn space. The wooden cross back chairs and lush hedgewalls perfectly complimented the palm trees in the background swaying in the soft breeze. And it wouldn’t be a desert wedding without pampas grass, which was of course included in the florals found on the arch and along the aisle.
This processional was extra special because both the bride and the groom each walked their mothers down the aisle. It was an emotional ceremony in the best way possible.
The recessional was filled with cheers and smiles as the couple walked back down the aisle officially as husband and wife.
Guests exited the space to the adjoining grove for cocktail hour to enjoy live music, libations and delectable bites. In an expanse filled with cattails dancing with the wind, the newlyweds snapped a few quick portraits before joining their guests for the rest of cocktail hour.
The Grove Wedding Reception at Grand Hyatt Indian Wells
For Christine & Luis’ reception, we used the same ceremony space and orchestrated a flip to turn The Grove into a charming and warm reception space - complete with dinner tables and a dance floor. By far the easiest flip our team has done, all thanks to the highly experienced team at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells!
To adorn the dinner tables we added bamboo charger plates, menus into pocket-folded napkins, place cards and favors. Each guest table had a fresh floral arrangement and votive candles, and at the sweetheart table we repurposed the beautiful wedding arch and ceremony aisle florals.
We kicked off the festivities with a fun Grand Entrance leading to the couple’s First Dance, perfectly set under twinkle lights and a beautiful desert sky. Toward the end of their First Dance, guests joined in and turned the empty dance floor into a mini-dance party. They worked up quite an appetite, which was good because dinner was up next.
After dinner, we finished off the formal program with a few toasts, tosses, and a sweet cake cutting before opening up the dance floor. Everyone danced the night away - the newlyweds included!
A fun treat the Grand Hyatt included was a popsicle cart for guests to enjoy, so we arranged for the newlyweds push the cart onto the dance floor. It was the best way to round out the evening!
