Should I Allow Kids At My Wedding?

This is a very tough and personal question to ask when planning a wedding. Consider the following factors that may not come immediately to mind when making your final decision.

Does your budget allow for children?

Children attending the wedding depending on their age may count towards your final guest count. Which means you will have to pay for them. Children’s meals may be priced lower or at the same price as an adult meal. Check-in with your venue or caterer to see what their price structure is and if you can fit this into your budget.

Does your venue allow children?

There are some venues that may not allow children altogether, and this is something you want to ask before booking if you’ve already made up your mind that your guests will be allowed to bring their little ones. Other venues like the wonderful Castle Green in Pasadena require hosts to provide a babysitter during mealtime so that they are being supervised and not running loose in the venue. Parents absolutely love this idea because it gives them time to actually enjoy a meal with other adults while their kiddos are enjoying a movie or other fun activities in the next room.

Imagine the type of wedding celebration you wished for

When planning your wedding, did you envision having families attend with their children? Some couples maybe prefer adults only so that they can enjoy themselves without having to worry about little ones running around. And this is totally okay! In fact, some parents may appreciate this because they get a date night to themselves. Other couples love the idea of having the kiddos celebrate with them because they may be more family oriented - and this is okay too!

Our advice: whatever you decide, be sure to communicate it clearly and with a good amount of notice for your guests. This way they can make the appropriate plans on their end to be able to celebrate your big day with you!
